3rd Trimester – week 36

As the due date approaches, fathers often experience a mix of emotions, joy at the baby’s arrival, concern about new responsibilities (emotional or financial), anxiety about supporting their partner during this sensitive stage, and even fear of the unknown, especially for first-time fathers.

These feelings are normal. Rather than suppressing your feelings, make sure to express and talk about them with your partner.

How can you handle this stage?

  • Communicate with your partner and talk about your feelings and worries to release anxiety.
  • Help with household tasks, packing the hospital bag, or accompanying her to appointments.
  • Support her emotionally, your presence and simple words of reassurance give her a sense of safety and strengthen your bond.
  • Take care of yourself, too, get enough rest, eat healthily, and talk to a friend or family member to stay balanced.
  • Listen attentively to her so she feels reassured.
  • Understand her fatigue or mood swings.

The more present and involved you are, the more you reduce her stress, ease your worries, and become better prepared for your role as a father.
