Want to help with the first diaper change?
Now is the perfect time to start learning the basics; it’s not as tricky as it seems, so try it, especially during those early, exhausting weeks after birth.
Here’s what you can start practicing now:
- Diaper changing: Watch some videos, ask your partner about the steps, and try it out on a doll.
- Giving a baby a bath: Learn how to hold and support a newborn safely.
- Soothing the baby: Practice swaddling, rocking, and learning about baby cues.
- Preparing bottles or sterilizing equipment (if not breastfeeding).
By being involved early, you’ll feel more confident, and your support means a lot to your partner. Don’t wait until the baby arrives to jump in.
Also, try attending the childbirth classes together. You’ll both gain valuable insight, and it helps you understand how best to support her during labor and delivery.
