2nd Trimester – week 21

You’re part of this journey too, and your support makes a big difference. Children are very sensitive to tension, even if they don’t understand what’s being said. So, you must learn how to deal wisely with disputes in front of your baby.

Here are some tips:

  • Suggest taking a break and continuing it privately if the discussion is getting heated.
  • Never insult or blame your partner in front of your child.
  • Relax your body language and calm your voice. This shows your child that it’s possible to disagree without yelling or becoming angry.
  • Model respectful conversation. This teaches your child how to handle differences in a positive way.
  • Reassure your child afterwards and let him know that both parents love them and that it’s okay for adults to have different opinions sometimes.
