At week 36, your baby measures around 47 cm in length and weighs between 2.6–3.1 kg, about the size of a romaine lettuce.
If the baby is in breech position, your doctor may attempt to gently guide them into a head-down position by applying external pressure to the abdomen.
As for development, the lanugo and the vernix on the baby’s skin are gradually disappearing. The bones remain flexible so that the head can pass easily during the birth process but will harden during the early years.
Your baby’s sucking reflex is now strong and ready for feeding, and the digestive system is prepared to receive breast milk. Most importantly, the lungs are now fully developed, allowing the baby to breathe naturally after birth.
