3rd Trimester – week 34

Your baby is now about 45 cm long and weighs between 2.3 and 2.5 kg, about the size of a cantaloupe.

At 34 weeks, your baby is moving frequently and changing positions and is able to open their eyes and respond to light.

Also, the baby can hear sounds and recognize your voice and your partner’s voice.

Physically, your baby’s fingernails have reached the fingertips. Toenails will be fully developed by week 38. The central nervous system is still maturing, and the lungs are now well-developed, giving your baby a strong chance of survival if born early.

If you’re expecting a Boy, around this time, the testicles begin to descend from the abdomen into the scrotum.

If they haven’t descended by birth, don’t worry, they usually do within the first year.

It’s also common for a newborn’s genitals to look slightly swollen due to hormones or fluid. This swelling goes down after a few days.
