3rd Trimester – week 33

Your baby is growing steadily and getting ready for birth. The baby’s length is around 43.7 cm, about the size of a pineapple, while the weight is about 2 to 2.3 kg.

Fat is building up under the skin, making it softer and less red. The baby’s bones are also hardening, except for the skull, which stays flexible to make delivery easier.

The skull is made up of five bones separated by soft gaps called fontanelles, which allow the head to mold slightly during birth. These soft spots gradually close between 12 and 18 months after birth.

So, if your baby’s head appears a bit pointy after birth, don’t worry, that’s completely normal and will go back to a regular shape in time.
