Should I give my child antibiotics for every illness?

Antibiotics should not be used for every illness. They are only prescribed for bacterial infections and are ineffective against viral infections such as influenza or colds.

Overuse of antibiotics can cause side effects such as diarrhea, rash, and may disrupt the immune system’s ability to fight infections, leading to antibiotic resistance. This makes future infections more difficult to treat. Therefore, antibiotics should not be used without medical consultation.
