How do I know if my child is growing normally?

Your child’s weight, height, and head circumference should be monitored regularly using approved growth charts.

You should not compare your child’s growth with other children, as each child has unique growth patterns.

Growth delay or regression may indicate a health problem that requires early medical consultation. A child is considered short in stature if their height is below the average for their age and sex (below the 2.5 percentile on the growth chart). Short stature may also be familial due to genetic factors associated with parental height.
