How can I prevent cracked nipples?

Cracked nipples are one of the most common problems mothers face during breastfeeding. It usually occurs due to improper latch or other causes. To prevent and treat it, follow these tips:

  • Let the baby unlatch naturally after each feeding.
  • Make sure the baby is latching correctly and sucking effectively.
  • Do not use alcohol or harsh soaps that cause dryness of the nipple.
  • Apply expressed breast milk to the nipples after feeding and let them air dry to keep the skin moisturized.
  • Wear loose, breathable cotton bras to avoid friction.

Breastfeeding should not be stopped, as this may worsen the pain and reduce milk supply.
