Your baby is now fully developed and ready to be born at any time. He or she is about 50 cm long and weighs 3.2–3.8 kg.
The baby’s brain and nervous system continue to fine-tune, and while the lungs and brain are mature enough to function, they’ll keep developing after birth.
After delivery, the baby’s body continues to store fat to stay warm. In the meantime, a greenish substance known as meconium, a sticky substance that typically appears in the baby’s first stool after birth, is filling the intestines. Meconium passing during delivery could indicate stress and necessitate careful medical observation.
